Passionate about flowers.
Obsessed with dahlias.
I'm Karin. I'm an Australian mother of four who is married to a South African named Nick. We have a crazy dog named Cleo who lives her best dog life every day.
We've moved 10 times in the past 11 years in and out Chicago every time (Toronto, Sydney and Cleveland) and it is time to put down roots figuratively and literally. Given how hectic my life is I feel that it's an intentional choice for me to choose calm vs chaos every day. One of the ways I stay mindful is by growing flowers and by focusing on nature.
I only grow flowers that I love. You'll love them too - they are contagious. They fill a room, a wedding or a home with abundance and beauty.
My very favorite cut flowers are dahlias. They come in pretty much every color of the rainbow except blue (yes really!). I am growing 170 varieties of dahlias for the upcoming 2021 season. We focus our sales in late summer and early fall because dahlias are at their peak then.
about choosing calm
We grow sustainable seasonal flowers alongside Lake Michigan. Although we dream about dahlias we also grow many other flowers including heirloom sweet peas, nigella, tuberose, zinnias, cosmos, garden roses, lisianthus and scoop scabiosa amongst many others.
Our upcoming season will start in early August and carry through until frost. We will be selling our blooms through limited CSA shares, bulk buckets of dahlias for DIY weddings and bouquets, directly to florists/floral designers and through the Winnetka farmer's market on Saturdays.
